Message of chairman of governing body

NARINDERPAL SINGH RUPRAH

MESSAGE OF CHAIRMAN OF GOVERNING BODY

Law in its most sublime manifestation merges into the concept of Dharma. The concept of rule of law developed by the Indian judiciary is a step towards governance according to Dharma. And the best governance in the history of mankind according to Dharma was the rule of Lord Rama. In RAMRAJYA, no one was above law. I have the highest regard for the British concept of rule of law but I am more impressed by the rule according to Dharma manifested in Ramrajya.

Mahatma Gandhiji said, “By RAMRAJYA I do not mean Hindu Raj. I mean Ramrajya Divine Raj, the Kindgom of God. For me Rama and Rahim are one and the same deity. I acknowledge no other God but the one God of truth and righteousness. The ancient ideal of Ramrajya is undoubtedly one of true democracy in which the meanest citizen could be sure of swift justice without an elaborate and costly procedure. My Hinduism teaches me to respect all religions. In this lies the secret of Ramrajya. ”

Mahatma Gandhi appears to have only translated what is showered upon you by Shri Guru Arjun Dev ji:

(Of all religions, the best religion is to chant the name of God and to maintain pure conduct) (SGGS Ang 265)

To violate the rights of others is detested in by Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji as follows:

(To take what rightfully belongs to another, is like a Muslim eating pork, ora Hindu eating beef) (SGGS Ang 141)

These and many other concepts of humanities and of law deserve to be developed into an indigenous jurisprudence which is the ultimate aim of the academic pursuits of Hari Singh Ruprah College.

The Cave of Hira near Mecca is the venue where the first words of divine revelation of the verses of the Holy Quran descended upon Prophet Muhammad to light up the universe. Hence we have named the Hall where the students of first year sit as ‘Hira’.
We are most fortunate to have a very dedicated faculty led by a worthy Principal. The teachers of law, of humanities and of languages do not merely master their respective subjects but they own the subject as much as they own the concerns of all the students. Some of them have left many a lucrative career because teaching is their passion. I am greatly touched by the involvement of all the members of the faculty not only with the academic pursuits of the students but also with their well being as also their placement in a suitable career.

To quote Dr. B.R.Ambedkar (Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee)
Be educated
Be organized and
Be agitated.
